“What
I really liked about working with Jeff and Leslie was their
willingness to explore alternatives, to do something really out of the
ordinary. This is the third home I’ve built, and I’ve gone with the
bigger builders twice before, but with them, it was always ‘You can’t
get this floor plan with those elevations,’ or ‘No, you can’t move that
door in that wall.’ Everything was so automated.
“Pendragon was just the opposite. Basically, anything was fair game with them. We worked through several iterations at the beginning, and they spent the time with us to do it right. They weren’t just there to get through things just because they wanted the money. You could tell they were genuinely interested in trying to be different, and meet their customers’ wants.
“I’ve done construction work for Procter & Gamble for 20 years, so I have a good handle on the ebbs and flows with construction projects. Most just don’t happen how, or when, people say they’re going to happen. And when they do, it’s a pleasant surprise. Pendragon wasn’t like that.
“What they told us about timing, and our move-in, was right on. We had a good experience with Pendragon, and I would recommend them to anybody else. “As it turns out, I noticed the work of an interior designer I know from one of Pendragon’s model homes. We were neighbors of Pam’s 20 years ago, so when we saw her working with Pendragon, we realized we had a good thing here.

"We can't afford this," we said when we first encountered the Pendragon
model home in Charleston Woods. This
house was too beautiful, with sophisticated stonework and brick on the
outside, trailing down to an elegant wing wall holding a carriage lamp.
Prior to that random turn, our cautious queries into the world of homebuilding had revealed that what we felt we wanted in a home clearly didn't come without an extra price, and we were tired of being sold on "cookie-cutter" communities where amenities we weren't in the market for trumped the space, land, and building requirements we sought.
"Maybe we could go in and just have a look."
Once inside the model, we noticed right away that construction wasn't finished. The sales associate apologized for the mess--the painters were still painting, and some of the woodwork was still being put up. But my goodness, what lovely woodwork it was! And even though the model was still under construction, we asked if we could have a look through. Immediately, we were both gripped by the beauty and workmanship of the house, even in its unfinished state. The other models we'd been through were all heavily and ornately decorated, and we'd been through enough of them at this point to be able to close our eyes and imagine that professional decor stripped away, leaving the models well, plain. But here we were, seeing a model that was stripped of its decor in places...and what we saw was the innate and natural grace of the house's design. Stripped of its fashion, this house still showed quality and elegance. We realized then that this was a house-building experience worth pursuing.
At every step of the way, Pendragon demonstrated a level of flexibility, quality, and attention to detail that blew us away. They worked within our budget--indeed, most of the design elements we were interested in were features that other builders charged extra for, but came standard in Pendragon homes. Leslie and Jeff both demonstrated keen insight and talent in translating our requests into designs that not only met our needs, but suited our unique style as well. They were right there with us at every step in the process, glad to answer all of our questions and even helping us to understand the correct ones to ask. At the end of the process, we were proud to unlock the front door of our beautiful home, to walk across the floors knowing the construction beneath them was firm and solid, and to see the custom woodwork and design elements that we'd chosen and really feel like we were at home.

“We relocated from New Jersey and bought a market home. To be quite
frank, it was a very pleasurable experience, especially coming from New
Jersey. Jeff was available from the moment we inquired about the house,
as was Leslie, if we ever had any questions. They were very friendly
with regards to getting our questions answered.
“Why do I mention New Jersey? Because back there, there are a lot of restrictions on confidentiality, so you have to work with a Realtor, and you’re not allowed to work directly with a builder. To us, that meant we were getting all the information second-, if not third-hand. It was just nice to get the information directly, and not have the questions filtered through other parties.
“We moved in almost two years ago, and would definitely use them again. Jeff and Leslie make a very good team. There were some very small issues, which we weren’t surprised with, considering it was a new home, but they responded very quickly whenever they were notified. Like I said, if I couldn’t get a hold of Jeff, Leslie was always there.
“One of the big things we liked about working with Pendragon was the way they worked with us. I was talking to Jeff about putting a swimming pool in our backyard, and we were the first ones in our development to do that. Going through the process wasn’t easy. We had to move some septic lines, see how the pool was situated, and Jeff took a very active role. He made sure he met with the pool company that installed it, and took the time to say, ‘Hey, look, this is what should go here, and you need to be careful over there.’
“We have built before, and I can’t say that any other builder we used came out to make sure things like a swimming pool were done right. We are very pleased. We still stay in touch with Leslie; she wants to make sure everything is taken care of.

"We got lucky when we found Pendragon Homes, as we happened to see
their model, so we just stopped in. They were fairly new in the
business, but they had significant experience. We loved our first
Pendragon home, and I remember Leslie herself saying that she wants us
to ‘just love our home.’ What great customer service. Jeff builds a
quality house and they include a lot in their base price. It is a very
well-built, tight house, and I like that.
“Besides that, they were 100 percent honest. They didn’t
nickel-and-dime you. I liked Charleston Woods in Lebanon, and because I
had a good experience with them the first time around, I didn’t
hesitate to build my second house with them, pending the sale of our

“The model and floor plan were just the kind of thing we were looking
for, but what I remember most about working with Jeff and Leslie was
their flexibility, and perhaps most of all, the fact that they were so
very responsive. “The flexibility came about when we had to adapt our
floor plan, and they made several changes to it. They were very
flexible, and their follow-up was also really good. “I would definitely
recommend them to friends and family. Their most attractive element was
just being responsive. You shouldn’t have to bug your builder to call

“In August, we will be starting our third year here in Miami Bluffs,
and I’m happy to say that I am very pleased with the house.
“The home I left was within walking distance of the Kenwood Towne

just decided that it was time to get out of that big two-story with all
that room we did not need.
We drove out this way, and what I really liked about Miami Bluffs was

“The first time I walked through the house, I liked it, and within two
hours, Jeff met me there, to show it and walk through the home with me.
“Throughout the process, he continued to get back to me very quickly,
which was very important. We looked at some other houses, and the
people said they would call me back, but they never did. “What I really
liked were the great floor plans, as well as the lots, and the
location, and just the overall beauty of the subdivision. I’m still
amazed that I came across it just by driving around. “The granite is
standard, which is only one of many nice features. The whole experience

I have definitely enjoyed working with Pendragon. We were reluctant to
build at first because of all the horror stories we have heard from
friends & family; however, a friend from work mentioned he
built two houses with Pendragon and is thoroughly satisfied. After we
met with the sales staff we realized that this was a different type of
builder. You get to actually work with the owners and are encouraged to
provide open and honest communication throughout the entire process.
Their theory is for the customer to work with them during the building
process because it is easier to make changes as soon as you see them.
For example, an opening in a hallway seemed too small when we visited
the house after the framing was up. It measured exactly to what was on
the plans but it didn't "feel" right. Jeff was at the house at the same
time, verified it wasn't structurally necessary, and they changed it
right there on the spot. No wait, no fuss. I would definitely build
with Pendragon again, their attention to detail as well as the
customer's needs made our first building experience a fantastic one. We
feel fortunate to have found them.
